Integration Planning
I want support for a new application. What information do you need from me to assess the work? How do I prepare my site?
Change Management
Deploying Biometrics in your site requires planning and empathy for the concerns and fears of your users. Proper planning and communications can make this a positive experience.
Security and Privacy
Biometrics systems store and use PII highly restricted data and are tasked to protect user's credentials and biometric matching data.
Frequently Asked Questions
We've compiled a list of answers to common questions.
How long do the Biometric sensors last?
FINGERPRINT: Based on 15 years of experience, we can assert that Digitalpersona u.are.u 4500 sensors last from 5 – 10 years.Â
IRIS: The EyeLock MyrisE Iris sensor is still rather new. We will track the devices quality and update this question over time. Contact us for the latest.
- How do I clean my Integral Fingerprint sensor?
- Depending on the amount of use, the reader window may need to be cleaned from time to time. It will pick up dirt and salts from fingers.
- Apply the sticky side of a piece of adhesive cellophane tape to the touch surface and rub it to make it adhere to all clear touch surfaces and then peel it away. Throw the tape away and use another piece if dirt remains.
- If necessary, gently wipe the window with a cloth (not paper) dampened with a mild ammonia-based glass cleaner to remove any milky haze.
- Use an Alcohol based cleaning solution with no higher than 70% alcohol. Â
- What things should I never do to my Integral Fingerprint sensor?
- Never Use an adhesive tape other than cellophane (scotch) tape.
- Never Clean the reader window with paper.
- Do not Pour glass cleaner directly on the reader window.
- Never Submerge the reader in liquid.
- How do I clean my Iris Sensor
- The MyrisE Iris Sensor can be cleaned with a 70% alcohol solution and a soft cloth.
- The sensor can be cleaned with a soft cloth.Â
- What things should I never do to my Integral Iris sensor?
- Please make sure NOT to clean with harsh chemicals or abrasives which could mar the faceplate and blur the cameras view.
- Is the Integral Iris scanner harmful to my eyes?
- No – The EyeLock MyrisE Iris sensor that we have selected uses a camera to take images of your Iris (the colored part of your eye.) We all constantly use cameras to transmit images of ourselves with no harmful effects.  The sensor also lights the eye using certified low-energy LEDs which have been analyzed and measured by a world renowned professional and is deemed IEC 62471 Risk Group Exempt eye safe. (email us for this report) In this report that have indicated that these emitters do not pose a potential hazard to the eyes under any foreseeable viewing conditions. Even if an individual could fixate on an emitter for many minutes, the exposure would not exceed the recommended exposure limits. The LEDs are radiance limited and cannot produce exposure levels at the retina that approach the levels that are known to cause retinal injury.
In other words, the LEDs would have to emit way more radiance to pose a serious acute hazard to  the retina. This is theoretically impossible for an LED. The LEDs pose no hazard to the eye for the brief periods of viewing of several seconds.
There are also no measurable hazards to the cornea, lens or retina of the eye even from lengthy, repeated exposures to any user or bystander.

- Is it necessary to use the iris sensor by hand or can we use a mount?
- The Iris sensor can be used by hand but higher efficiency and faster and easier matching will be achieved if a mounting arm is used. Proper user training is ESSENTIAL and increases matching speed and ease of use in conjunction with a mounting arm.  Contact us for more information on mounting arms and user training.Â

- Why should we implement biometrics on the shop floor?
- This solution makes it easier for the operators to interact with the automated Manufacturing systems in your manufacturing lines. The time savings makes logins and eSignatures 75- 80% faster. Saving 10 -15 seconds per login or eSignature.Â
Who typically approves or agrees to implementations of biometrics. Who do I get involved to successfully introduce this technology?
Plant Managers are typically the greatest proponents of these solutions.  Lean, Six Sigma, and Operations Excellence management will support these solutions. Shop floor operators will be great advocates once they see the benefits.Â
How does this impact IT’s role in our systems?
No more password resets. No more lock-out assistance. The cost for regular password support is nearly eliminated.
How can introduction of these solutions impact our implementation of MES or other shop floor automation systems.Â
- Eliminating the time for eSignatures and Logins makes it possible to increase the number quality checkpoints or batch records included in your procedures. We Will Elaborate…
Will our operators balk at the introduction of this technology and refuse to participate?

- Are any images of my fingerprints stored?
- No. Images of your fingerprints are never retained or stored in any Integral Biometric system.
- Are my Iris Images Stored?Â
- No. Â Iris images are not stored. Â We store matching templates that have been algorithmically derived from an analysis of the enrolled user’s Irises. Â These can not be converted to translated back into an Iris or and image and have no embedded identity information.
- Will you share my finger matching template or my log in credentials with an organization outside of the company?
- Images of your finger are never stored, and the uniquely encrypted finger matching template will not be shared with any external organizations or systems.
- Are my finger matching templates usable elsewhere for matching my finger?
- The stored finger matching template cannot be used in other systems to match against other stored finger matching templates in other systems.
It is not compatible with other systems, it is designed to not be usable for matching, and it is uniquely multiple-encrypted.
- The stored finger matching template cannot be used in other systems to match against other stored finger matching templates in other systems.
- Can you (or anyone) rebuild an image of my finger from the stored digital data?
- Once the finger matching template file is created from the digital analysis of user’s scanned finger and then twice encrypted with two different encryption technologies and keys in two separate locations, it is not possible to use the stored digital data to recreate your fingerprint image even if the data were to be fully decrypted.
The original image is never reproducible.

- Has the security design of this system been reviewed?
- The security design of the Integral system is reviewed regularly as part of IAPP Internally Deployed Application Questionnaires and other CISO Processes. Also J&J has conducted a Software Quality Audit and Business Process Risk Assessment on Integral’s processes in 2016 and 2017 and there were No comments or Observations from either audit.
- All PII data is stored and Transported using AES256 and/or Blowfish Encryption
- To address EU GDPR requirements –
- User Personal Names are optional in the system, Only a user ID and their credentials may be stored.
